The Feast of Christ the King

On this Feast of Christ the King, Fr Lawrence,  wants to present to you this marvellous video that totally expresses what this feast is all about.

Dr. Shadrach Meshach Lockridge was the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, San Diego, USA, from 1953 – 1993. He died in 2000. Dr. Lockridge was active in the civil rights movement, and under his leadership Calvary Baptist hosted several of its leaders, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. On one occasion after his retirement Dr. Lockridge,  was spotted in the audience at the beginning of a Baptist convention. The organiser of the convention asked him to come up to the stage, and open in prayer.  This is what happened:

Post Confirmation Retreat at Youth Village

Eight Young people from the parish tool part in a Post Confirmation Retreat at the Youth Village in October. For more information about the Youth Ministry Team click here.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the retreat at the Youth Village. It was peaceful, reflective and fun. The place was new and really comfortable. There was great company and lovely food. The people who worked there were all really kind and helped us have a really memorable stay, they were from all over the world and each of them had a different story to tell. The hymns we sang at Mass were all beautiful and I still can’t get them out of my head.”
Any young person who took part and wants to say something about the retreat please send to Fr Lawrence at or submit a comment at the bottom of the page.
Fr Lawrence would like to say a very big thank you to Bernadette Rich and Denise Shuttleworth for accompanying the young people on the weekend.
