On the afternoon of Sunday 8th September a group of parishioners made a pilgrimage to the ruined 14th Century Lady Chapel on the north side of the river Wansbeck between Morpeth and Bothal. This was to honour Our Lady on her birthday. The rosary was recited during the 3 mile walk for the intention of peace in Syria, the Middle East and the whole world, as requested by the Holy Father. At the chapel the pilgrims prayed before an image of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor. The Litany of Our Lady and the Prayer for England was recited. The hymn “Immaculate Mary! was sung and some flowers were left among the chapel ruins. The pilgrims were conscious that this was an ancient place of prayer where Our Lady was venerated and the Holy Mass celebrated.
